SCA Helping Silvermine Scholars for 50+ Years!

The Silvermine Community Association has been awarding scholarships to community residents for 55 years. More than 295 high-school seniors have been helped on their way to higher education through this unique neighborhood program.

In past years, the individual scholarship awards have ranged from $250 to $3,000. Each year, based on the number of applicants and their qualifications, the number of scholarship recipients varies. Generally there are between three and six recipients.

Marshall graduated from Norwalk High School with honors and is now attending the University of Wisconsin-Madison, majoring in education. Other scholarship winners from Norwalk High School are Leanna Dunsmore, who will be attending Bucknell University In PA., studying biology and Gillian Henson, who will attend the University of Vermont and will be pursuing pre-veterinary medicine. The fourth scholarship winner is Christina Kealin , a graduate of Wilton High School who is now pursuing computer sciences at Princeton.

The scholarship is funded primarily through SCA events such as the annual pancake breakfast. It also benefits from direct donations from Silvermine residents. High school seniors living in Silvermine area are encouraged to apply each spring for consideration.
