Santa's Visit to Silvermine on Christmas Eve

A SILVERMINE TRADITION FOR CHILDREN OF SCA MEMBERS
SPONSORED BY THE SILVERMINE COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION

One of the oldest traditions in Silvermine is the arrival of Santa Claus on Christmas Eve at the Silvermine Tavern parking lot. At 3:30 the festivities began with lots of hot chocolate and marshmallows for everyone, compliments of Frank and Marsha Whitman, with seasons greetings exchanged by all in attendance. Soon we all heard the familiar sound of the SCA antique fire truck, whistles blowing and bells ringing,  arriving with Santa and his elves and barrels of Christmas presents for all good girls and boys.

The air was filled with the sound of children's excited voices as each name was called out and  gifts were opened and admired...

This is truly a wonderful way to begin the Christmas festivities, with some of us remembering the days 20 and 30 years ago when we came with our children and now with our grandchildren...it doesn't get much better than this and reminds us all once again, the wonder of this community called Silvermine that we are so privileged to be a part of...
