Feb 13, 2008: CT DOT publishes a news release announcing a public information meeting regarding the proposed improvements to the Route 7/Merritt Parkway interchange in Norwalk. Meeting is to be held at Norwalk City Hall or at Dept. HQ in Newington (near Hartford).

February 20, 2008: Information is distributed to members of the SCA and NASH indicating that Keith Simpson of the Merritt Parkway Conservancy is available to take any interested members of SCA and NASH on a walkthrough of the Interchange design in Silvermine on Sunday, March 2nd in the early afternoon. This walkthrough was designed to help with any remarks that individuals cared to make at the March 18 hearing.

March 18, 2008: A reminder of the town hall public meeting is published in The Norwalk hour.

March 26, 2008: Senator Duff sent a letter to Commissioner of the DOT and Peter Malkin indicating that he would like them to ensure that all resident voices are heard as it pertains to this matter.

March 27, 2008: A concerned resident forwarded an email reminding her neighborhood indicating that this project has an impact on highway safety and area wetlands, subsequently urging folks to submit their thoughts, feelings, support/non-support of Option 12A to Senator Duff, Mayor Moccia, and Thomas Harley of the DOT before the March 31st deadline for submitting comments.

March 27, 2008: Patricia Cuomo drafted and sent an email to Senator Duff, Mayor Moccia, and Thomas Harley expressing disapproval of option 12A. Sen. Duff responded by requesting that the DOT extend the deadline and organize another public meeting. This request has been granted. Status: Currently awaiting notification of the extension deadline and scheduled meeting.

March 31, 2008: Original proposed deadline for submitting comments/concerns. NOTE: This deadline has been extended. Currently awaiting word from Senator Duff and the DOT of the new deadline and public meeting date.

April 2, 2008: Patricia Cuomo sent additional requests to Senator Duff and the DOT to provide substantiated documentation that supports the NEED for this project.

April 7, 2008: Norwalk Hour reports that another Public Meeting regarding this issue will be held in mid-May. An exact date and time is yet to be determined. It is worth mentioning that State Representative Lawrence Cafero (R-142 Minority Leader) has asked the DOT to hold a special forum in the Silvermine neighborhood. He suggests that both Silvermine Residents and the DOT be in attendance.
